This is a CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, A MINORITY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION within the meaning of section 2(g) of the National Commission of Minority Educational Institutions Act 2004 and has been declared as a minority Education Institution covered under Article 30 of the constitution of India. It is established and administered by the SOCIETY OF THE SISTERS OF ST.JOSEPH OF ANNECY, India. It is under the religious jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Bhubaneswar.

It is an ICSE & ISC SCHOOL affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.The school is not aided but recognised by the Education Department of the State Government of Orissa. The medium of instruction is English with an emphasis also on Oriya and Hindi .Boys and girls from Nursery onwards are prepared for the class X-ICSE and ISC(+2) Examination of the Council.

The type of education imparted in the School takes into account the whole person, paying heed to each child’s background and personality, with the love and patience exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ. Thus, young people will be gradually led to self formation and to the development of a sense of RESPONSIBILITY AND CONCERN FOR OTHERS.

Mahatma Hansraj established the D.A.V. College Trust and Management Society on 31st January 1886 after the death of Swami Dayanand. It is now the oldest and biggest non-governmental educational organization in India. It covers broadly the entire spectrum of educational activity in the country. The society has developed a chain of institutions from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Manipur to Rajasthan with a view to meet the demand for enlightening and progressive education based on the requirements of contemporary times with emphasis on values of life. It includes over 750 public and aided schools, colleges in the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce, Education , Law, Technology, Ayurveda, Medicine, Pharmacy & Management, It has completed one hundred and twenty two years of its academic services. Sainik School Bhubaneswar was started by Late Shri Biju Patnaik the then Chief Minister of Orissa on 15 Jan 1962 in an adhoc government accommodation. The new building and infrastructure was brought up within two years at the present location under personal care of Shri Biju Patnaik and was inaugurated by Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on 08 Jan 1964 The primary aim and objective of Sainik School is to prepare boys academically,physically and mentally for entry into the National Defense Academy. The School is managed by three tier system of management VIX Sainik Schools Society, Ministry Defence as its appex body , Local Board of Administration and the School staff comprising of Principal ,Headmaster Registrar, Academic and Administrative staff. Moreover, the high levels of physical, mental and intellectual attainments needed for induction into the Officer Cadre could not be nurtured in the common schools, mainly because of the lack of infrastructure facilities.
