ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION IN SUM NURSING COLLEGE OF SOA UNIVERSITY ODISHA

Basic B.Sc. Nursing

i. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year admission.

ii. The minimum educational requirements shall be passing of : Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course), or An equivalent with 12years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English minimum of 50% aggregate marks (PCBE) for General category and 40% for SC/ST candidates.

iii. Both male and female candidates can apply.

iv. Candidates should be medically fit for the Course.

v. The candidate has to appear for the 'SAAT' Examination conducted by Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing

The college also offers a 2-years Post-Basic Nursing Programme for those candidates who have completed their Diploma Nursing Programme.

At Post-Basic level, Nursing is a broad based education, which builds upon the skills and competencies acquired at diploma level. It is specifically directed for upgrading of their critical thinking skills, competencies and standards required for practice of professional Nursing.

They will be prepared themselves to act as a teacher and demonstrate themselves as a role model and create learning environment for the students.

Candidate must have passed GNM and midwifery course.

Candidate should have minimum 2 years of experience after passing GNM course.

The candidate shall have passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the council.

Obtained a certificate in general Nursing and midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M with state Nursing Registration council.

Medically fit.

Selection Procedure  ::

Candidate shall be selected on the basis of mark secured in GNM & Midwifery and after counseling session.

Master of Nursing

SUM Nursing College (Faculty of Nursing, S 'O' A University) has stepped to start for higher education programme from the academic session 2008-09 to provide nursing education that is oriented to a nursing service in a comprehensive manner. Also this contemporary model of education will meet health of need of the country. The Institution has gone to its maximum strength then the Post-Graduate teaching facilities and providing areas of research activities.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

Candidates shall be admitted for the degree of Master of Science in Nursing if she fulfills the following requirements.

a. She has the B.Sc degree in Nursing with a minimum of 55% of marks in aggregate and cleared all the parts of the examination in single attempt from any University recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.

b. She has two years of experience after attaining the above degree in a teaching Hospital or Community Health Agency or Nursing Educational Institution recognized by INC.

c. The degree of the Candidates must have been registered with Orissa Nursing Council or any other State Nursing Council.

d. The following criteria will be applied to Foreign Students seeking admission to M.Sc. Nursing Courses.

i) The degree of the candidate must be registered with Indian Nursing Council.

ii) The candidates must have no objection certificates from the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.

iii) The candidates must have permission of Siksha “O” Anusandhan University and have proper migration certificate.

iv) They may be admitted in Supernumerary seats with prior permission of the University and the Government provided the rules of the Indian Nursing Council permits.

e. Should be Medically fit.

f. Maximum age limit for M.Sc candidates shall be 50 years and admission is opened to either sex.

g. Special criteria for IGNOU P.C B.Sc candidates. (1) The candidates should have passed form the IGNOU recognized center. (2) Maximum 5 years Bedside experience from any teaching Hospital / Institutions.

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

Duration of the course shall be of two academic years.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF THE CANDIDATES:

The candidates will be admitted to M.Sc Nursing courses in accordance to the provisions of the statute of the Siksha '0' Anusandhan University , which will be in force from time to time. At present the selection shall be based on the joint entrance examination conducted by the University, followed by counseling for the successful candidates.

Reservation for SC / ST as per Government norm. (If the seats remaining vacant in above categories will be filled up by General Candidates.)

The separate merit list will be prepared for the general and internal candidates. The internal candidates if qualify in general merit list they will be taken as general candidates. Rest of 20% seats will be filled up by the internal candidates as per the merit. The selected internal candidates will have to execute the bond to serve the institution for 2 years.
