Odisha
The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, India announces organization of XI Agricultural Science Congress at OUAT in collaboration with local ICAR institutes.India has witnessed an unprecedented agricultural transformation during the past over 50 years through ushering in the green, white, yellow and blue revolutions, thus rendering the country foodself-sufficient and self-reliant. A strong cadre of homegrown skilled human resources and appropriate modem technologies were the drivers of the revolutions, of course, duly synergised with sound policies, services, farmer's enthusiastic response and strong political will. The establishment of Post Graduate School at IARI and the first Agricultural University at Pantnagar in 1960, structured on the Land Grant College pattern, heralded the setting up of State Agricultural Universities across the Country which was instrumental in generating the needed human resources and in developing and transferring relevant technologies. Indian Agriculture now is facing far greater and newer challenges of global competitiveness, increasing productivity with lesser input and natural resources, environmental sustainability and climate change. These challenges can only be met by reorienting agricultural education for fostering academic excellence, new skills for capturing uncommon opportunities, inculcating entrepreneurship in the graduates, addressing key concern for quality assurance, and for promoting
gender sensitivity.
